State of Decay - PC Game Review

State of Decay is a 3rd-person view zombie game with interesting base building elements. I have to say I really like it. After a short bit in the start (with a reasonable tutorial), you go around killing zombies, getting resources, finding new people to add to your base and getting status with other bases. The basic mechanics are just great, and the fighting (which has shooting, beating zombies with several objects and stealth parts) , graphics and sounds are pretty good. You can also drive around, which is great to kill zombies but cars get damaged pretty quickly. The only problem I have is that it seems to lock up my computer some times. That is a big problem, which is why I haven't played it more. Overall, excellent concept and reasonably well executed.

Organ Trail: Director's Cut - PC Game Review

Image
Organ Trail: Director's Cut is a zombie take on Oregon Trails - a strategy game that I played a bit on Apple II. In Organ Trail, you travel around on a zombie wasteland with a group on a station wagon, suffering random good or bad luck events between towns, as well as some choices (example: there is a zombie horde in your way, do you a) wait, b) attack them, c) sneak by). On the town you can buy supplies such as car parts, fuel, food, medkits, etc , sell stuff or do jobs, such as kill zombies, bandits, etc. On everything, the graphics are genuine 4-color CGA, with music and sounds that feel like 80s stuff. If that is good or bad, it is up to you, of course. Gameplay is mildly interesting, but I can't say I liked it all that much.

Call of Duty - Black Ops - PC review

Call of Duty: Black Ops is pretty much the same as most other CODs. Plenty of action, with minimum freedom of action (I miss the original Far Cry freedom to cover the objective in a dozen different ways!), and some nice shooting sequences from vehicles. One thing I really hated about this COD is the annoying flipping sequences whenever you go back to a menu (or the repetitive video sequences on Zombie mode). Other than that it is regular COD - good with some memorable sequences. What I really liked (although it gets tired fast) is the Zombie mode. Those are a few levels (at least with the full DLC - not sure how much and if any came with the original game) where you get attacked by zombies and slowly get extra "cash" to buy access to places and weapon. Pretty cool, albeit the hell dogs can be a bit though for me - and I really hate the fact that they teleporting from nowhere. A few levels have hilarious starts, such as the JFK/Nixon/McNamara/Castro pentagon level, a...

Infectonator: World Dominator Review

I like to check out Kongregate once in a while for flash games, and once in a while, I find one that is really great. Infectonator is a silly pro-zombie flash game, where you infect the whole world, one city at a time. You start with a weak infection tool, which can barely turn a few people into zombies. They will hunt other people down, and each time have a small chance of infecting them. There are heroes that will kill your zombies. After that, you can use your money to improve your zombies. They can last longer, infect more, be fast, stronger, etc. You can also have multiple infection shots per attack, bombs and better infection features. Along the game you can get your own zombie heroes, which are quite funny. For example, you can get a Michael Jackson zombie that is very similar to the Plant vs Zombies one, a large zombie named tanker (I presume that it's a nod up to Left 4 Dead), something similar to Ronald McDonald, Coronel Sanders, etc. Overall, it's very much worth the ...
