Call of Duty: Black Ops II - PC Game Review
Call of Duty: Black Ops II looks to be just like the rest of the COD franchise.
The first 3 missions are regular, rail shooting (from a boat) and stealth - almost like they are trying to keep things exactly balanced.
That first section is in flashbacks. The section with the new tech is a lot cooler. There is a completely unnecessary but still fun segment where you climb a vertical wall in a mountain using gloves that stick to it, and swinging from a rope with your partner. Then you use a wingsuit to fly into place (particularly annoying - and the first time I really felt the need to increase DPI of my mouse during a game).
The chinese soldiers have cloaking systems, which are counteracted by your weapon sights. It is a bit hard to view them at a distance, but you do get to see them through obstacles.
Before missions you can choose loadout from stuff you have unlocked. One of those is an access kit, which gives you access to different sections on a level. For example, you can unlock the weapons on a drone and use them.
There are also plenty of ammo caches. I can't remember seeing so many of them in previous COD titles, but I like it. Switching guns all the time because you ran out of ammo is quite annoying.
Unfortunately, they kept the annoying movies you can't skip when continuing (to be fair, you can skip them, but that is probably when everything is loaded. I'd much rather have a static screen). They also added a pointless plane movie at the end of certain sections.
One new thing are the strike levels. These are a bit like RTS game, but with simple controls, and they let you command any unit directly. I didn't like the first one, though.
Overall, I like COD:Black Ops II, but it doesn't feel like a great game - just good.
I'll update this as I play more.
