Magicka PC review
Magicka is an action role playing-game where you use various elements combinations to make spells. You then use these spells to fight monsters.
The spells are a huge part of the game. There are a whole lot of combinations, and several are shown throughout the game. Others you have to discover for yourself. There is a full reference at MagickaPedia , as well as walkthroughs.
There are also many funny references throughout the game. Check the screenshot below for one.
And the walkthroughs are quite useful, as there is quite a bit of strategy involved for each boss, given the many spells available.
What I didn't like - the mouse only controls (I'd much rather move with WASD keys - I guess this is an unfortunate console decision), and the game doesn't seem to have it's screen locked for multi-monitor configurations, so on a heated battle, you can easily click out of the game. Fortunately, the game stops, but then takes about 10 seconds to start back.
Looking around the net, everyone agrees that it was horribly buggy at release, but getting better with the patches.
It's pretty cheap at US$10, and fun. It is well worth looking at the demo if it appeals to you.
